Pelosi is still trying to grasp at the reigns of power. Now one of her closest allies is the target.
And Nancy Pelosi just betrayed a former friend with this epic backstab.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was the leader of the entire Democrat Party in the House of Representatives for twenty years.
Recently, she gave up her power to make way for the new age of hyper-progressive radicals biting at the establishment’s ankles.
She may pretend to be fine with it, but in reality, she wants her power back.
And her latest move shows just how serious she is about it.
Despite not endorsing either candidate, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) headlined a virtual fundraising event for Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s (I-AZ) main opponent on Thursday.
According to an invitation to the event received by NBC News, Pelosi was the featured guest for Rep. Ruben Gallego’s (D-AZ) virtual fundraiser.
The invitation suggested that donors give between $500 for guests and $6,600 for sponsors.
Those attending as “friends” were asked to contribute $3,300 to the campaign, while supporters were asked to contribute $1,000. On Thursday, June 29, at 4 p.m. local time, 7 p.m. Eastern time, the event took place.
Pelosi’s attendance at the fundraiser was an uncommon move for the former speaker, who usually stays out of left-wing infighting.
Pelosi has not endorsed many candidates for 2024, but in February she endorsed Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) to succeed Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who is leaving next year.
The Arizona seat is deemed critical for Democrats to keep in order to maintain a Senate majority in 2024.
Sinema abandoned the Democratic Party late last year and has yet to announce a reelection run. Democrats are concerned that if she runs, she would divide Democratic voters and hand the seat to Republicans. Democrats have a slim Senate majority.
Other Democratic leaders, such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), have declined to endorse a candidate in Arizona’s Senate election.
Since taking office in 2019, the Arizona independent has battled with Democratic leadership in the Senate several times.
Recent disputes have included opposition to raising the federal minimum wage and increasing certain taxes on corporations and the rich as part of the “Build Back Better” proposal.
Sinema and Gallego have both previously run against Pelosi for House Speaker. Sinema, who served in the House from 2013 to 2019, did not support maintaining Pelosi as speaker in 2015 and 2016, although Gallego only opposed Pelosi in 2016.
Sinema’s decision to leave the party on critical votes spurred some of Gallego’s criticism of his fellow Arizonian, who said she was battling “for the interests of Big Pharma and Wall Street at our expense.”
