Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her “Squad” have become the leading proponents of “defunding the police.”
This disastrous trend contributed to the worst crime wave in centuries, with criminals wreaking havoc in Democrat-controlled cities across the country.
While Americans are dealing with rising crime, one “Squad” member is hypocritically guaranteeing that the cops are protecting her.
Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) is one of the newest and most outspoken members of the “Squad.”
She is the most vocal supporter of police gutting in Congress, and she never misses a chance to criticize law enforcement.
But, as it turns out, she’s also one of the most hypocritical members of Congress – who would have guessed?
According to campaign finance reports, Rep. Bush spent upwards of $500,000 paying security personnel during the 2022 election cycle.
Her campaign spent $38,528.63 on “security services” between October 20 and November 28.
The majority of the funds were paid to the St. Louis-based private security firm Peace Security, which employs former military and police officers as “security operators.”
In Congress, Bush represents the crime-ridden city of St. Louis, Missouri, which has the worst murder rate in the country.
She rejoiced in 2021 after the city voted to defund its police agency.
While the citizens she represents live in terror of crime, Rep. Bush spends a small amount to keep herself safe.
After CBS News questioned her in 2021, Bush justified her extravagant spending on private protection.
“They would rather I die?” Bush asked smugly. “You would rather me die? Is that what you want to see? You want to see me die? You know, because that could be the alternative.”
While the inhabitants of St. Louis are suffering as a result of police cuts, Bush is ensuring her protection.
She stated that she required personal security due to alleged threats to her life and the fact that she has “too much work to do.”
“So suck it up, and police defunding has to happen,” Bush remarked.
A local St. Louis TV station eventually revealed that Rep. Bush was employing two off-duty Sheriff’s deputies – the very police she wanted to defund – as part of her security detail.
The two deputies were fired for failing to acquire consent for the work from the county sheriff.
The police, according to Bush, are unfit to defend the inhabitants of St. Louis. yet they’re totally good for her own personal security.
Despite the blatant irony, Rep. Bush refuses to back off publicly supporting the “defund the police” movement despite protests from her fellow Democrats.
Cori Bush demonstrates yet again that socialists do not do what they preach.
