Trump White House blown away by what a leading House Democrat has confessed publicly to

The Democrats have completely lost their minds. They will stop at nothing for their radical agenda.

And now the Trump White House is flabberggasted by what a leading Democrat congressmember is planning now.

Democrats Push for Shutdown Chaos to Block Trump’s DC Crime Crackdown as Party’s Popularity Hits Rock Bottom

Democratic California Rep. Robert Garcia recently floated the idea of forcing a government shutdown unless President Donald Trump pulls troops out of Washington, D.C., where they’re deployed to tackle surging crime rates. Garcia, elevated by his fellow Democrats in June to lead as the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, faced a direct question on MSNBC about leveraging federal funding to counter Trump’s security measures in the nation’s capital.

“Should they refuse to vote on the spending bill, using that leverage until they see President Trump reverse deploying troops in the streets of D.C.?” the host asked Garcia. “Yes. First, that should be on the table. I don’t think we should be ruling that out,” Garcia said.

This comes amid a Sept. 30 deadline for government funding, where Senate Democrats could withhold votes and plunge the country into shutdown mode, all in protest of Trump’s efforts to restore order in a city plagued by violence.

Garcia doubled down, insisting that Democrats across the board must rally against the president’s actions. “I think that Democrats in the Senate, the House, every, all of us, should be united in using everything that we can do in all our power to stop what Trump is doing right now, not just in D.C., but across the country.”

“So absolutely, that should be on the table,” the House lawmaker emphasized.

Such tactics highlight a growing perception among everyday Americans that Democrats prioritize political theater over practical solutions, especially as recent polls reveal the party’s favorability cratering to historic lows.

A Wall Street Journal poll from July showed only 33% of voters viewing Democrats favorably—the lowest in 35 years—with Republicans leading on key issues like the economy and foreign policy. This slump stems from widespread frustration that Democrats focus more on infighting and virtue-signaling than delivering results for working families.

Even CNN reported the Democratic Party’s favorability dipping to a record low earlier this year, with voters citing a lack of spine in standing up to challenges without endless gridlock.

Democrats’ unwillingness to compromise has become a flashpoint, as Americans increasingly see the party as obsessed with blocking progress unless it fits their narrative, leading to voter exodus toward Republicans.

New data alarms Democratic strategists, showing voters fleeing the party in droves, with the brand struggling due to perceptions of being out of touch and ineffective at governing. A Newsweek analysis noted the party’s net favorability plunging to a near three-decade low, fueled by post-2024 election turmoil and failure to address core concerns like inflation and border security.

This latest shutdown threat fits the pattern: Democrats appear ready to halt government operations—impacting paychecks for federal workers and services for citizens—purely to undermine Trump’s crackdown on D.C. crime, which many see as a necessary step to protect law-abiding residents.

On Aug. 15, Garcia teamed up with Democratic Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin and D.C.’s non-voting House delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton to introduce a joint resolution aimed at stripping Trump of emergency powers over the Metropolitan Police Department.

The resolution argues that no true emergency justifies the president’s control, pushing Congress to end it and restore what they call local autonomy. “President Trump’s incursions against DC are among the most egregious attacks on DC home rule in decades,” Norton said at the time.

“DC residents are Americans, worthy of the same autonomy granted to residents of the states … No emergency exists in DC that the president did not create himself, and he is not using the DC Police for federal purposes, as required by law.”

Critics argue this move ignores the real crisis in D.C., where crime spikes have left communities desperate for federal intervention, yet Democrats seem more intent on scoring points against Trump than solving problems.

Pew Research findings show this disconnect, with 86% of Americans saying Republicans and Democrats are too busy fighting each other instead of tackling issues, leaving the public exhausted and disillusioned. For Democrats, this feeds into views that they’re unwilling to get things done if it doesn’t burnish their image as progressive warriors.

Gallup polls reinforce that Americans overwhelmingly favor compromise to achieve results, but partisan hostility—often blamed on Democratic intransigence—erodes trust in institutions. As Trump’s approval holds steady amid his decisive actions, Democrats’ tactics risk further alienating voters who are tired of endless obstructionism.

An AP-NORC poll captured deep pessimism among Democrats themselves about their party’s future, with many feeling it prioritizes elite agendas over everyday American needs.

In this climate, Garcia’s shutdown suggestion could backfire spectacularly, accelerating the voter shift that’s already hitting Democrats hard. With midterm whispers growing, Republicans point to these moments as proof Democrats would rather see chaos than success under Trump.
