The radical Congresswoman and her Squad can’t stop making headlines for all the wrong reasons. But this time, the damage they’ve done might be irreparable.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is in a world of trouble after this report dropped.
“Defund the Police” has been a rallying cry for Leftists ever since the Summer of Rage in 2020.
That summer, Black Lives Matter protestors destroyed American cities after the passing of George Floyd.
The leaders of that movement have been members of the notorious Squad, which includes AOC, Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MO), and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
But despite being vehemently anti-cop, the Squad members still felt the need to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign money for private security.
“Leading the way is Cori Bush (D-Missouri), who has reported spending more than $730,000 on private security – including $75,000 she funneled to her husband – and Ocasio Cortez (D-NY), whose $272,000-plus tab includes security upgrades at her district offices” aid the New York Post.
“Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) ranked third, spending $125,683.75 on security services since taking office in 2019.”
The hypocrisy unfortunately doesn’t stop there.
Even though Bush is about as far left as one can get, she made payments to a private security firm that identifies as right-wing.
According to the New York Post, “Among the benefactors of her donor’s largesse was St. Louis-based Peace Security, a pro-gun, right-wing private security firm that racked up $380,947 despite reportedly promoting the Second Amendment – in sharp contrast to Democratic socialist Bush’s anti-gun campaign messaging.”
The controversy got worse for Congresswoman Bush, who received a Federal Election Commission complaint earlier this year because her campaign paid $75,000 to her husband, Cortney Merrits for security.
The complaint occurred because Merrits didn’t have a private security license.
And while members of the Squad receive protection from Capitol Police – funded by the taxpayer – they still insist on using money their supporters donated to beef up their defense even more.
Even though she’s faced multiple death threats, Bush has continued to double down on her radical stance that the police must be defunded.
The difference between her and an average American is that she has the funds to provide herself with security, while the average American is left out to dry in a dangerous situation if police precincts across the country are shut down.
“Cori Bush, AOC, all the members of the squad – they and their families deserve to be safe and secure in their homes and communities – but so does everyone else,” said Zach Smith, Heritage Foundation legal fellow.
National Legal and Policy Center counsel, Paul Kamenar also highlights the Squad’s hypocrisy, “They’re spending all this money for their security but they are not worried about the security of their constituents.”
By sitting in their cushy offices, protected by large security details, AOC, Bush, and Omar show just how out of touch they are with the American people as they continuously try to rip apart the Second Amendment and destroy the nation’s police force.
