Donald Trump has to watch his back. Everyone is out to ruin his bid for a second term in the Oval Office.
And CNN makes a prediction on who will betray Trump next and it’s not who you’d expect.
The 2024 election has already enlisted plenty of surprises thus far.
There were thoughts that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) would be the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president.
But now he’s in second place and trailing former President Donald Trump by a wide margin.
Not only has Trump performed well out of the gate, but he seems to have gained a momentum boost from his legal woes that the Left has instilled upon him.
Trump has done well to use that momentum to get more support from his base and has outlasted other fellow Republican candidates like his former running mate Mike Pence, who dropped out in October.
However, CNN believes that Pence might be Trump’s downfall in the end, specifically as a witness in the case of him allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election results.
“Let’s remember, this trial is going to happen. It is under 100 days away from right now. Mike Pence is going to be a pivotal, perhaps the pivotal witness for the prosecutors,” Eli Honig, a CNN senior legal analyst said on CNN’s This Morning program.
“He has the sort of unique standing here where he’s both an eyewitnesses and a victim. He’s a victim in the sense that he was the recipient of Donald Trump’s pressure campaign. He was the one who the rioters were chanting for.”
“But he’s also a witness to crucial one-on-one conversations at times that he had with Donald Trump. And there’s no other person on the planet who can give prosecutors the kind of insight that Mike Pence can give them,” Honig further explained.
After then-Vice President Mike Pence voted to certify the 2020 election results, many members of Trump’s base, including Trump himself, withdrew their support from Pence and questioned his loyalty.
And since Pence did not feel like he was in position to not certify the results, Leftist prosecutors are hoping that his testimony will be the deciding factor in putting Trump behind bars.
“I think the key reporting here is that Pence directly told Donald Trump he had seen no evidence of election fraud. Add Mike Pence to that long list that he did not believe he had the constitutional authority to throw out the vote,” Honig continued.
“So Mike Pence is a crucial witness any way you cut this, and it makes sense to me the prosecutors are digging in at that level of granularity.”
Democrats are worried Donald Trump will beat Biden in the 2024 general election.
Polls continue to come out that show the former president outperforming Joe Biden in swing states across America.
So that’s why Leftist media organizations like CNN, are rooting for Pence as a witness to take down Trump.
And if Donald Trump isn’t firmly behind bars come election time, Democrats have real reason to panic that he may get another four years in the White House.
