But they used that to justify kicking him off every major social media outlet – Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter – effectively silencing him.
Former President Trump even started his own social media platform, Truth Social, to combat their censorship.
After years of claiming he’s a threat to society and should be barred from social media for life, Leftists like Mark Zuckerberg are changing their tunes.
Former President Donald Trump can now post on Facebook and Instagram after Mark Zuckerberg and the Masters of the Universe restored his accounts.
According to The Hill, Facebook has decided to restore former President Trump’s accounts on the network. Following the events of January 6th at the Capitol in Washington, DC, former President Trump was suspended across all Facebook platforms.
Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts have already been reinstated, according to a corporate spokeswoman, who cited a January 25 statement that said the account would be restored in the “coming weeks.”
Trump still maintains a substantial social media following, with over 23 million and 34 million followers on Facebook and Instagram, respectively.
As of Friday morning, his most recent Facebook post, encouraging “everyone” at the Capitol to “remain peaceful,” was still dated January 6, 2021.
Trump has yet to say whether he will rejoin Facebook or Instagram after developing his own network, Truth Social, in response to the ban. However, Facebook has been an important part of his previous fundraising attempts.
Trump’s return to the platform was permitted without the approval of the company’s oversight board, but Facebook claims it did so because the “risk” that former President Trump presented to public safety had “sufficiently decreased” since the January 6 protests.
As a result, a spokesperson declared last month: “As such, we will be reinstating Mr. Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts in the coming weeks,” a spokesperson said. “However, we are doing so with new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses.”
Following an almost two-year suspension, Twitter reinstated Trump’s account in November 2022 under the leadership of new CEO Elon Musk.
However, he has not tweeted from the account since the suspension was lifted. Trump is said to have signed an exclusivity agreement with Truth Social that expires in June.
