Biden is not happy with Harris. He feels as though she forced him out as the Democratic nominee for president.

And this former House Speaker just revealed Joe Biden’s undercover scheme to backstab Kamala Harris.

In a recent discussion on Mark Halperin’s 2Way Tonight, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich offered his perspective on a possible dynamic unfolding between President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Gingrich speculated that Biden might be intentionally undermining Harris’s campaign for the Democratic nomination. He suggested that Biden might be driven by a desire to cement his legacy as the only president to defeat Donald Trump in an election.

Gingrich shared his thoughts, saying that he has “a hunch, as a historian and occasional novelist … that sometime in the last two weeks, Joe and Jill looked at each other and thought, ‘You know, wouldn’t it be a great legacy if Joe’s the only guy ever to beat Trump?’” He added, “I think the stuff he’s done to undermine her in the last 10 days is pretty amazing, and I don’t think it’s an accident.”

Gingrich’s comments come as Trump’s allies also suggest that there may be tension between Biden and Harris. Trump, during a rally in Reno, Nevada, remarked, “He hates Kamala more than he hates me, in my opinion, and that’s a lot,” accusing Harris of upstaging Biden with what he called a “coup.”

Conservative pundits have also taken note of certain recent actions by Biden, which they believe could be part of a broader strategy to weaken Harris’s position.

One such instance was Biden’s praise of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s disaster relief efforts following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. While Harris had publicly criticized DeSantis for “playing political games,” Biden commended the governor, saying he was doing “a great job.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Biden made an unexpected appearance in the White House press briefing room on the same day that Harris was holding a rally in the key battleground state of Michigan.

Trump’s allies were quick to interpret this as a deliberate attempt by Biden to overshadow Harris’s event. The New York Times reported that the Harris campaign was not pleased with the timing of Biden’s appearance.

Some on the Right also argue that Biden’s remarks about Harris during the same press conference could be a strategic move to benefit Trump’s campaign. By tying Harris to his administration’s economic and immigration policies—some of which have been unpopular with parts of the electorate—Biden could be making it easier for Trump to draw negative associations between Harris and the Biden administration.

During the press conference, Biden went out of his way to emphasize Harris’s role in his administration, stating, “We’re singing from the same song sheet. She helped pass all the laws. She was a major player in everything we’ve done.” He doubled down on this, saying, “She’s been, and her staff is interlocked with mine in terms of all the things we’re doing.”

The Harris campaign, meanwhile, seems to be navigating a complex balancing act. On one hand, Harris has taken credit for several policies of the Biden administration. On the other hand, she has sought to distance herself from Biden at times, presenting herself as a representative of “a new generation of leadership.”

When asked on The View if she would have done anything differently than Biden, Harris responded, “There is not a thing that comes to mind in terms of — and I’ve been a part of — of the decisions that have had impact.”

Despite this, Harris has made it clear on numerous occasions that she is not simply a continuation of Biden’s presidency. As she stated during her debate with Trump, “Clearly, I am not Joe Biden.”

Reports from outlets like Axios have further indicated that Harris may not be eager to fully embrace Biden’s economic legacy, which has not resonated well with all voters.

According to an August report, Harris “wants to be not-Biden on inflation” and is aiming to offer “clearer, more urgent solutions” on that front.

Gingrich’s observations, along with Trump’s remarks and the actions of the Biden administration, suggest that the relationship between Harris and Biden could become hostile in the weeks before election day.
