The ladies of The View have had a bad few weeks. But it’s only getting worse for them.

As this host of The View was humiliated live on air thanks to this Trump cabinet pick.

During a recent episode of The View, the panel turned their attention to President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet selections, offering a mix of humor and all-out criticism.

The hosts speculated on Trump’s motivations behind his choices, with co-host Whoopi Goldberg joking that aesthetics might have played a role.

“It’s a TV Cabinet. Maybe he’s doing it because he wants to make sure they look good on screen,” Goldberg quipped, prompting laughter from the audience.

However, the conversation took a more serious turn when Goldberg handed the discussion over to co-host Sunny Hostin, who was tasked with reading a legal clarification about former Rep. Matt Gaetz, a nominee for attorney general under Trump’s administration.

“I do have a legal note. Thank you, Whoopi,” Hostin said, her expression notably strained before proceeding to read the statement.

“Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations, calling the claims, quote, ‘invented,’ and saying in a statement to ABC News that ‘this false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism,’” Hostin read. “The DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought.”

The moment ended with the show cutting to a commercial break, but the exchange added another layer to The View’s ongoing critiques of Trump’s Cabinet nominations. The hosts have frequently criticized the president-elect’s choices, with Gaetz emerging as a particularly contentious figure.

Gaetz himself responded to Hostin’s humiliating moment of having to read the legal note by sharing the video on X (formerly Twitter) and simply posting an eyeball emoji:

Matt Gaetz has faced scrutiny due to allegations of an inappropriate relationship with an underage woman, accusations that have followed him throughout his career.

While no charges were filed in the Justice Department’s investigation, The View has consistently referenced these allegations during discussions about Gaetz, especially since his nomination for attorney general.

Other media outlets have also heavily criticized Gaetz’s nomination as Attorney General, with reports of some reporters crying once they found out the news.

Trump, for his part, has defended his choice of Gaetz. In a statement on his Truth Social platform, the president-elect praised Gaetz’s capabilities and outlined his vision for the role.

“Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System,” Trump wrote.

“Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department.”
