The vice president’s popularity continues to drop. Even Democrats are starting to turn their backs on her.
And Kamala Harris just got rocked by the worst news imaginable ahead of the 2024 election.
It’s no secret that President Joe Biden has a poor approval rating.
His handling of the economy, illegal immigration, and multiple foreign policy dilemmas, have contributed to his decreasing popularity.
But Vice President Kamala Harris isn’t faring much better in the approval rating department either.
According to a new Politico-Morning Consult poll, Harris has a disapproval rating of 52%-42%.
57%-34% of voters also said that Harris would be unlikely to win the presidential election if she were to be the nominee for the Democrats.
And if she were elected to the presidency, 51%-40% of voters believe that she would be a poor commander-in-chief.
39% of respondents feel as though Harris shouldn’t be replaced as Biden’s running mate this election cycle. But 36% believe that she should be replaced.
When the poll questioned just Democrats in their findings, just 59% believe that the VP would win the presidential election if she ran this year.
However, 74% of them think she would be a good president.
This poll comes at a time when Kamala Harris is gearing up to face off against Donald Trump’s future running mate on the campaign trail.
While speaking on some of her strategy on this matter, Harris told Politico that Trump will choose a VP who’s an “enabler.”
“What we know is that Donald Trump wants an enabler. He doesn’t want a governing partner. He doesn’t want another Mike Pence, and I think that is clear,” the vice president said.
Harris and Trump’s eventual running mate will match up against one another in a debate later this summer. CBS News will host the debate, however the campaign of the former president hasn’t agreed or disagreed with participating.
As for the rest of the results of Politico-Morning Consult poll, just 41% of Democrat voters think Kamala Harris should run for the Oval Office in 2028.
Other possible 2028 Democratic candidates in the poll that were listed are, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Newsom received 14% in the poll, while Buttigieg got 15%.
These are certainly sobering poll results if you’re Kamala Harris.
It’s hard right now to rival Joe Biden’s unpopularity, but Harris is definitely doing just that.
