Mace has been a mainstay of politics on the Hill. But now her closest confidantes are jumping ship.

And Nancy Mace was thrown under the bus after a disgusting accusation surfaced.

Consultant Resigns from Mace Campaign Citing Loyalty Concerns to Trump

A senior campaign consultant to Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., resigned Monday, publicly accusing the congresswoman of aligning too closely with libertarian-leaning Republicans Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., at the expense of full loyalty to President Donald Trump.

McCubbin Alleges Mace Embracing “Rand Paul Wing” for 2028 Ambitions

J. Austin McCubbin announced his departure in a series of posts on X, stating: “This is about loyalty.”

He claimed Mace informed him last Wednesday that she was directing a personal friend to write a seven-figure check to Paul’s political action committee and had fully embraced the Paul-Massie faction.

“Nancy Mace is wittingly or unwittingly a proxy for Rand Paul’s 2028 presidential campaign. That’s the straw that broke the camel’s back,” McCubbin wrote, adding that he had warned Mace about the political risks of distancing herself from Trump.

McCubbin emphasized his decision was not personal: “Anyone who knows me knows that I have nothing personally against Rand or Nancy. This is about loyalty. My loyalty lies with President Trump.”

Mace Campaign Disputes Claims, Cites Compensation Dispute

A spokesperson for Mace’s gubernatorial campaign rejected McCubbin’s characterization, telling Fox News Digital that his resignation stemmed from a rejected demand for $10,000 monthly compensation.

“Mr. McCubbin didn’t raise a dime for the campaign or, better yet, never even bothered showing up. When he demanded $10,000 a month for ‘services’ and was told no, he ran straight to X,” the spokesperson said.

The campaign insisted Mace remains a staunch Trump ally: “Nancy Mace has stood with President Trump since Day ONE… Nancy Mace will be the most pro-Trump and America First Governor in the country,” quoting McCubbin’s own prior words.

Resignation Highlights Tensions Within GOP Ahead of 2026 Midterms

The public split comes as Mace prepares for a competitive Republican primary in South Carolina’s 2026 gubernatorial race and follows recent party fractures, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s surprise resignation announcement last week and a narrow House vote—spearheaded by Mace and three other Republicans joining Democrats—to force the release of Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein, defying Trump’s preference to delay disclosure.

While Mace has voted against the House Republican majority only 5% of the time this Congress—lower than Massie (62%) and Paul’s Senate record—she has occasionally broken with leadership on transparency and spending issues, drawing criticism from Trump’s inner circle.

Neither Sen. Paul, Rep. Massie, nor the Republican National Committee immediately responded to requests for comment.
