Joe Biden is in an all out war against Donald Trump for the presidency. His poll numbers seem to look worse and worse each day.

And President Biden’s chances to win this crucial 2024 swing state just took a major hit.

The state of Ohio has long been known as a key battleground state in presidential elections.

Former President Donald Trump however, has won the state in both the 2016 and 2020 elections.

He’s gearing up to try and win it again, but President Joe Biden and his campaign are working to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Their efforts have hit a rather large roadblock, as Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced on Friday that Biden may not be on the state’s ballot for the general election in November.

The Washington Examiner was able to get ahold of a letter written by Paul Disantis, Legal Counsel for LaRose, which was delivered to the Democrat Party in Ohio and detailed how the deadline to certify a presidential ballot is on August 7.

That date is over a week before the August 19 nominating convention for the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Disantis’ letter explains how the dates are “an apparent conflict in Ohio law.”

Specifically, Ohio law mandates that presidential candidates have to be officially nominated by their respective political party before they can appear on the ballot in the state.

Biden isn’t lost without hope however, because the DNC and the Ohio general assembly can create workarounds to this law.

“I am left to conclude that the Democratic National Committee must either move up its nominating convention or the Ohio General Assembly must act by May 9, 2024 (90 days prior to a new law’s effective date) to create an exception to this statutory requirement,” Disantis said in his letter.

A spokesperson for the Biden presidential campaign didn’t seem worried when they told ABC News that they still believe the president will appear on Ohio’s ballot in November.

“We’re monitoring the situation in Ohio and we’re confident that Je Biden will be on the ballot in all 50 states,” said the spokesperson.

For all the talk earlier this year of Donald Trump not appearing on multiple state ballots, it looks like Biden has some trouble of his own regarding ballot access.

Democrats and the Joe Biden campaign don’t seem to be panicking yet, but as the August deadline creeps closer and closer, that panic will likely start to fully set in.
