Donald Trump’s near miss with death has shocked the nation. But what isn’t shocking is the Left’s disgusting response to it.
And Republicans are furious after what this former Biden official said in the aftermath of Trump’s assassination attempt.
Former Biden White House press secretary Jen Psaki has called on the Republican National Committee (RNC) to reconsider its planned programming for the upcoming convention to prevent further escalation of political tensions following the recent failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
This statement hasn’t been well-received by many Americans who view the Left as the ones who need to tone down the rhetoric regarding how they speak about Trump and his supporters.
In a Sunday appearance on “Meet the Press,” Psaki expressed her fears in the aftermath of the attempt on Trump’s life, mirroring sentiments from other panelists who urged the nation to reduce its divisive political rhetoric.
With the Republican National Convention kicking off this week, Psaki advised that the party should re-evaluate its speakers and agenda to help reduce tensions and “restore civility.”
Psaki mentioned that while Democratic calls for President Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race have been “paused,” the convention could potentially reignite this discussion.
“The convention is starting and unless the programming changes, the rhetoric and how the programming is set up is not actually calming the tone or restoring civility,” Psaki stated. “We’ll see if that programming changes, but if it stays the same, that is escalating it. It is not a civil approach to a convention.”
Despite the attempt on Trump’s life, the RNC and Trump campaign have announced that the convention, where Trump will be formally nominated as the GOP’s 2024 candidate, will proceed with heightened security measures.
“I truly love our country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Sunday morning.
Psaki, now an MSNBC host, warned that those using this moment to advance their political agendas or enhance their platforms are “feeding into the danger” and could provoke “retaliation.”
“For anyone out there who has a platform who thinks the moment right now is to be political and attack the other party — you are feeding into the danger. You are making it more likely there’s retaliation,” she cautioned.
“I’m incredibly scared. I’m scared for journalists. I’m scared for people who have public platforms of all parties.”
The shooter was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from western Pennsylvania. Before being k*lled by law enforcement, Crooks reportedly fired at Trump from a rooftop 130 yards away, hitting the upper part of Trump’s right ear.
The former president, visibly bloodied, was quickly evacuated from the stage by Secret Service agents.
Crooks also fatally shot one rally attendee and critically injured two others. Despite the chaos, Trump, with blood on his ear and face, waved defiantly to his supporters as he was escorted off the stage, shouting, “Fight!”
Voting records show Crooks was a registered Republican, but he had only voted in the Nov. 8, 2022, state election due to his age.
He had made a $15 donation to the Progressive Turnout Project, a Chicago-based political action committee supporting Democratic candidates and advocating for “key Democratic constituencies: young people, minorities, and low-income people.”
When contacted by Fox News Digital for a statement, the RNC referred to its earlier announcement that the convention would proceed as planned.
