President Trump’s press secretary is on a roll. She’s doing everything she can to defend him and his agenda.
And the White House Press Secretary tore into the fake news media’s unhinged questioning about Trump.
In a tense White House press briefing on Wednesday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt faced a barrage of questions about the recent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, dismissing some as misguided and sharply labeling one as “stupid.” The session highlighted the administration’s stance on the escalating unrest tied to immigration enforcement and drew attention to President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard.
One reporter pressed Leavitt, asking, “Quick question, so if there were peaceful protests on Saturday for the military parade, President Trump would allow that.” Leavitt’s response was swift and pointed: “Of course, the president supports peaceful protest. What a stupid question,” she said, before pivoting to the next question.
The briefing followed violent clashes in Los Angeles that erupted on Friday, triggered by federal immigration raids. Reporters grilled Leavitt on the administration’s plans for upcoming deportation efforts around the country and how it would address potential future unrest.
One question, which suggested Trump’s response to the riots was a calculated move to shift attention from his public feud with Elon Musk, drew a sharp rebuke. Leavitt called it a “disingenuous attack,” emphasizing that the president’s actions were driven by firsthand accounts of violence against federal agents.

“The president saw images of Border Patrol and ICE agents being hit with rocks and Molotov cocktails. He saw vehicles being burned to the ground with illegal aliens flying foreign flags. And that’s what prompted the president to have this response that has clearly worked,” Leavitt stated, defending Trump’s decision to activate 2,000 National Guard members to restore order.
The Los Angeles riots followed public statements from local leaders, including Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom, who criticized the federal raids while expressing support for illegal immigrants.
Trump’s deployment of the National Guard, bypassing Newsom’s authority, sparked a lawsuit from the governor, who accused the administration of attempting to “federalize the California National Guard.”
Democrats nationwide have framed the riots as “peaceful” demonstrations, blaming Trump’s National Guard activation for escalating tensions.
Leavitt pushed back, arguing that California’s leadership has failed to act decisively. “The governor and the mayor need to actually do more,” she said.
“I know Gavin Newsom had a big address to the nation last night. … We haven’t seen action. California has been a mess for years because of the incompetence of Gavin Newsom. So, the president was responding to that only.”
The riots in Los Angeles were aimed not just at law enforcement, but at American culture and society itself.

The briefing came amid a separate controversy involving Trump and Elon Musk, who recently clashed over a massive spending bill dubbed the “big beautiful bill.” Musk, the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency, publicly called it an “outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination” and urged lawmakers to reject it.
The public spat intensified until Musk posted on X Wednesday, expressing regret: “some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”

As the administration navigates these overlapping crises, Leavitt’s fiery exchanges with the press signal a resolute defense of Trump’s immigration policies and his response to the unrest in Los Angeles.
