The 2024 presidential election is already full of chaos. But this announcement has brought things to another level.
As this 2024 election endorsement from this top Senator could change the entire presidential race.
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are likely to face off yet again this November in the race for the White House.
Both candidates are looking for an edge in any way possible in their quest to win reelection.
And Biden may be getting some much-needed momentum after what this Senator announced.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) expressed last Friday that he hasn’t abandoned the idea of endorsing Biden despite not agreeing with him on a multitude of issues.
Manchin also said that the president is too far on the Left and needs to work better at unifying the country.
“I want Joe Biden to be the Joe Biden I’ve known forever, OK?” the senator said while speaking with MSNBC anchor Katy Tur.
“Always working a deal, always wanting to bring people together, which is how he campaigned in 2020. I think his staff is taking him too far left. I don’t believe that’s where he needs to be.”
“I don’t believe that’s where he is, internally, never has been, and love to see him come back to that.”
According to Manchin, one way Biden can step away from being too far Left is by trying to fix the crisis at the United States’ southern border.
“I’m begging him now, if this can’t be fixed in Congress, to basically declare a national emergency because the border is of national concern and [is] a national emergency,” Manchin said.
The senator from West Virginia also explained how it’s vitally important for Biden to try and connect with his voting base that aligns more in the center of the Left.
“There’s too many people I know sitting on the sidelines who won’t vote for either one. They’re the ones that have to make a choice. Donald Trump has his base secured. Joe Biden does not have his base secured, and if the far Left is scaring him and making him believe ‘We’re going to leave you if you do things more rational,’ I tell you, there’s people who are not going to vote at all,” Manchin declared.
“They need to make their mind up, but he needs to give them a reason.”
Earlier this year, there were rumblings that Manchin might run as a third party candidate for the centrist group, No Labels.
Those rumblings were shut down back in February when he announced that he would not be running for president. Sen. Manchin is also not running for reelection to the Senate but he is hoping he can work in other ways to try and unify the country.
So it makes sense why he’s so critical of Biden, because he feels as though the president has broken his promise on trying to unify America.
Instead, Joe Biden actively alienates those who didn’t vote for him and those who identify as conservatives.
And while Manchin hasn’t committed to an endorsement of President Biden yet, he did say on MSNBC that he wouldn’t endorse Donald Trump.
