The president’s currently up the creek without a paddle. His administration has been an all-out disaster.
And a new scathing report shows just how dysfunctional the Biden White House really is.
Amid growing pressure from Democrats to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race due to concerns about his age and health, President Joe Biden has not convened a full Cabinet meeting in over nine months, according to a new report.
This lack of meetings has left Cabinet members in the dark about his condition.
CNN broke the story on Thursday as Biden seeks to reassure supporters of his capability to lead and pursue a second term.
This comes after a recent debate against President Donald Trump where Biden appeared confused and struggled to maintain his train of thought.
The report noted that the last full Cabinet meeting took place on October 2, 2023, more than half a year ago.
An anonymous secretary expressed that Cabinet members are unsure of the 81-year-old president’s health because they rarely get to see him.
Sources revealed to CNN that prior to closed-door Cabinet meetings it was customary to submit questions and talking points to White House aides beforehand.
One source described the meetings as “not free-wheeling, and pretty well-orchestrated.”
In response to the report, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack stated that the described process was “standard practice for any administration” and that “there should not be surprise in Cabinet meetings.”
House Republicans have been urging Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office since February, following a special counsel report highlighting Biden’s memory issues.
The pressure on the White House escalated on Wednesday when Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) subpoenaed three of Biden’s staffers.
This move followed an Axios report suggesting efforts to conceal Biden’s declining cognitive state.
NBC News chief political analyst Chuck Todd mentioned on his podcast this week that a Cabinet official, who remained unnamed, questioned Biden’s ability to seek a second term.
This conversation reportedly occurred early in Biden’s administration.
“I’m not gonna out the Cabinet secretary, right?” Todd remarked on “The Chuck Toddcast.” He added, “But I had a Cabinet secretary two years ago… all out of the blue ask me, ‘Do you really think he’s gonna — he can’t run again like this?’”
Todd continued, “This is a pretty senior Cabinet secretary. And this was two years ago.”
He concluded, “This is one of those, you know, it’s the classic open secret, a non-versation, right? It’s the story everybody knows and no one was — everybody was afraid to talk about.”
