This high-profile Democrat just suffered a humiliating defeat

Politics can be a firestorm for some. But for others, it can get even worse than that.

And this high-profile Democrat just suffered a humiliating defeat.

Transgender laws have been a hot topic over the past year.

With many of the debates being over whether or not children should have a surgery that mutilates their bodies in order to change their sex, the conversations have been heated.

Recently, the North Carolina legislature – which has a Republican majority – brought forth House Bill 808, otherwise known as the Act to Prohibit Gender Transition Procedures for Minors.

And according to the bill itself, it is “unlawful for a medical professional to perform a surgical gender transition procedure on a minor or to prescribe, provide, or dispense puberty-blocking drugs or cross-sex hormones to a minor.”

Once the bill made its way to Governor Roy Cooper’s (D) desk, he vetoed it.

But on Wednesday, the state legislature overrode the Governor’s veto of House Bill 808.

North Carolina is now the twenty-second state to put laws into place that ban minors from receiving transgender surgeries.

And the hits kept coming, as that wasn’t the only loss Cooper suffered.

According to Breitbart, “The legislature also overrode the governor’s veto of House Bill 574, better known as the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, which prohibits biological males from competing in girls’ sports in North Carolina at the middle school, high school, and college levels.”

“Further, the North Carolina legislature overrode the governor’s veto of Senate Bill 49, the Parents Bill of Rights.”

“In part, the legislation makes it clear that parents have the ‘right to consent or withhold consent for participation in reproductive health and safety education programs’ and the right to know of and approve of preferred pronoun changes for their children, among other rights listed in the legislation.”

While the passing of these bills seem like common sense, Governor Cooper felt the exact opposite when he vetoed them.

And as the figurehead of the Democrat Party in North Carolina – a party that supposedly values women – one would think that the Governor would be all for keeping biological men out of women’s sports.

Cooper didn’t take this series of defeats lightly.

In part of a statement aimed toward the state legislature, the Governor said, “These are the wrong priorities, especially when they should be working nights and weekends if necessary to get a budget passed by the end of the month.”

But despite Governor Cooper’s complaints, state Republicans are working hard on prioritizing the well-being of children and preserving women’s athletics.
