Donald Trump knows how the get under the Democrats’ skin. He’s picking the right people to help him accomplish this.
And Trump’s latest pick for his Cabinet is exploding the heads of the radical Left.
In a decisive move, President-elect Donald Trump announced his selection of Pam Bondi as the next attorney general after former Representative Matt Gaetz withdrew from consideration this past Thursday.
Bondi, a seasoned legal professional and former Florida attorney general, brings a wealth of experience and a strong history with Trump to the role.
Bondi served as Florida’s attorney general from 2011 to 2019, earning recognition for her work on combating drug trafficking and opioid abuse. However, she gained national prominence as one of Trump’s defense attorneys during his first impeachment battle.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his admiration for Bondi’s track record, describing her as “very tough on Violent Criminals.”
“Then, as Florida’s first female Attorney General, she worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl Overdose Deaths, which have destroyed many families across our Country,” Trump wrote. “She did such an incredible job, that I asked her to serve on our Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission during my first Term — We saved many lives!”
Trump emphasized that Bondi’s leadership would be pivotal in reshaping the Department of Justice, which he criticized as being overly partisan.
“For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans – Not anymore,” Trump added. “Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again. I have known Pam for many years — She is smart and tough, and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter, who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!”
Bondi’s History with Trump and Conservative Advocacy
Bondi has been a staunch ally of Trump since the 2016 primaries, solidifying their relationship during her tenure as Florida’s attorney general. After defending Trump during his impeachment, she briefly ventured into the lobbying world but remained a high-profile surrogate for the former president. Regularly appearing on media platforms, Bondi advocated for Trump’s policies and vision.
In May 2023, Bondi discussed the importance of appointing a bold attorney general during an appearance on Fox News with Sean Hannity.
“It starts at the top with justice. You put in an attorney general who is not scared of anybody and will take out the people who are not honest,” she stated. “You move on to the FBI. Replace them, move those guys all over the country if you can’t fire them. Disarm them. Put the good street agents to work to do the job they were put there to do.”
She also called for enhanced resources for the Drug Enforcement Agency and strengthening homeland security measures to tackle the international drug crisis. Bondi’s tenure as chairwoman of the Center for Litigation and co-chair of the Center for Law and Justice at the America First Policy Institute underscores her dedication to Trump’s agenda.
Gaetz’s Withdrawal and Controversy
Trump’s initial pick of Matt Gaetz for attorney general surprised many, as the controversial congressman wasn’t widely seen as a contender. Gaetz resigned from Congress shortly after the announcement, but his nomination faced significant challenges. Skepticism from Senate Republicans and a House Ethics Committee investigation overshadowed his brief candidacy.
Gaetz had been accused of having s*xual relations with a 17-year-old, an allegation he vehemently denied and for which he was never charged. However, leaked details from the House inquiry created political turbulence, prompting Gaetz to step aside.
“While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition,” Gaetz said in a statement. “There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1.”
Bondi’s nomination signals a return to familiarity for Trump, as he turns to one of his most trusted allies to lead the Justice Department. With Bondi at the helm, Trump aims to solidify his “America First” priorities while addressing the challenges ahead.
