The nation’s high court has been the subject of many news headlines over the years. But this was a headline no one wanted to see.
And chaos strikes the U.S. Supreme Court after justice is reported missing.
On Monday, the United States Supreme Court held a session where they heard arguments for two cases.
Those cases were Snyder v. United States and Chiaverini v. City of Napoleon, Ohio.
Chief Justice John Roberts announced that fellow Justice Clarence Thomas would be absent from the court’s session.
But the most concerning part of Thomas’ absence, is the fact that there’s no explanation for it.
According to reports from the Associated Press, Justice Thomas did not remotely participate in the session like some justices do when they are unable to be present in court.
Thomas, who’s 75 years old, is now two years removed from when he was in the hospital for an infection.
During that time, he still participated in cases that were taking place.
The conservative justice has been on the bench since October 23, 1991, and was appointed by President George H.W. Bush.
Justice Thomas has long been known as a strong conservative and has been crucial in helping rule on many high-profile cases such as the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
That has led to Leftists trying to find ways to kick him off of the Supreme Court.
These ways include trying to dig up bogus ethical violations against Thomas for allegedly not disclosing luxury trips that he’s gone on.
Democrats have also demanded that Thomas recuse himself from cases involving former President Donald Trump since his wife, Ginni Thomas is a strong Trump supporter and helped lead efforts in the “Stop the Steal” campaign which focused on overturning results from the 2020 presidential election.
The Supreme Court is currently made up of six conservative justices and 3 liberal justices.
But just because conservatives have a majority in the court, doesn’t mean that every case will be ruled the way the Right wants it to be.
One thing’s for sure, however, and that’s the fact that Justice Thomas almost never strays away from his strong conservative ideology in his role in making a ruling.
So losing him from the bench, especially while Joe Biden is president and can appoint a radical Leftist justice to take his place, would be a disaster.
At the time this article is being written, there’s been no word as to why Clarence Thomas was absent from the Supreme Court’s session on Monday.
But hopefully, his health is in good shape and he’s ready to return to the nation’s high court as soon as possible.
