The former president’s legal woes have hit an all-time high. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting dimmer and dimmer.
And Donald Trump was just handed the worst threat imaginable from this attorney.
On Friday, Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron fined Donald Trump $354.8 million after ruling that he exaggerated his net worth to receive better terms for his loans.
Engoron also fined the former president $100 million in pre-judgment interest.
This ruling is a result of the civil fraud case that New York Attorney General Letitia James brought forth against Trump.
Trump plans to appeal the ruling but will still have to pay the fine to the state of New York before he can start the appeal process.
But now James has announced that if he doesn’t pay the fine, she will seek to seize his assets.
“If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets,” James said to ABC News.
James also explained that just because Trump paid back all the loans to the banks, it doesn’t mean that there were no victims involved in the case.
“He engaged in this massive amount of fraud. It wasn’t just a simple mistake, a slight oversight, the variations are wildly exaggerated, and the extent of the fraud was staggering,” she said.
“If average New Yorkers went into a bank and submitted false documents, the government would throw the book at them, and the same should be true for former presidents.”
“We are prepared to make sure that the judgment is paid to New Yorkers, and yes, I look at 40 Wall Street each and every day.”
40 Wall Street is known as the “Trump building,” which is obviously the former president’s.
Trump has claimed that because of this civil fraud case and the ruling that was struck down against him, businesses will move out of the Empire State.
“Last I check, tourism is up. Wall Street is doing just fine,” James said in response to Trump’s claim.
The overall arrogance by Letitia James is what has Donald Trump and his supporters on edge.
It’s almost like she couldn’t wait for this damaging ruling to occur against the former president.
“Someone once told me if you want something done, give it to a woman,” James bragged.
